Color Space Requirement
sRGB only
The most common color convention used by personal computer systems is called "RGB" (Red-Green-Blue). The RGB model mimics computer display hardware standards. In RGB, all colors are composed of the three primary red, green, and blue; each assigned a value between 0 and 255. The personal computer hardware - at the time - were limited to 8-bits and could only measure a value ranging from 0 to 255. For example, Medical Imaging Systems use up to 14-bits per color. However, the home computer would round these values off to the nearest 8-bit equivalent. In either case, this range of colors that can be represented by a color model is called a colorspace.
Today most digital cameras default to sRGB until instructed otherwise via the menu. However, a special Note to users of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. The color space option "Adobe RGB 98" is NOT sRGB. Please save a copy of your image off in sRGB mode.
Deadline:
Before 6:00 pm on the last Sunday prior to the club meeting
Some Final Reminders...
No changes are made to images submitted. This includes resizing images. Images not meeting the specifications will be returned to the sender for correction. They may be resubmitted provided the deadline is met.
It is highly suggested you use a calibrated monitor in preparing your images. Otherwise what looks good on your monitor may not look so good when projected. The projector tends to show images much brighter than a typical monitor.
For those without imaging editing software such as Photoshop, Elements, etc there are free resizing programs you can download from the net. A good example is Photo Gadget Pro 1.5 found at http://www.xemico.com/photogadget/
Finally, Images are not held over for the next competition. If you want to use an image in another, or the next, competition please resubmit for the appropriate competition date and category. [/html]
