In order to participate in club competitions, one must be an active paid member in good standing. Monthly competition results can be found under Competition Winners in the menu.
Our competitions are judged by guest judges or by a panel of members. A ribbon is given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category according to total points awarded without ties. In the event of a tie, the judge(s) will determine the place winner. There are assigned and open categories in each competition. Entries receiving ribbons are eligible for the "Best of the Year" competition held at the final meeting in June.
Prints may be either monochrome or color. All prints must be mounted and/or matted with an overall size no larger than 16" x 20." Neither the name of the photographer nor the title of the image may appear on the front of the print. Prints may not be framed or under glass.
Note: Print submissions not following these rules will be rejected. Also, poor quality mounting is frequently mentioned by judges as reason why an image was not rated higher.
Prints may be processed by photographer or a commercial lab. Digital photographs printed by a lab or by photographer are allowed under the following conditions:
Assigned
The digital darkroom has replaced the wet lab and enhanced image techniques like HDR (whether done on Photoshop, Photomatix, other) are included with the normal dodging, burning, cropping, enlarging, etc. in the assigned category.
Images must adhere to the assigned category.
Open
May may include digitally manipulated images (manipulated images are those that go a step further than enhanced images) and may include composite images.
Images may be of anything.
Multiple separate images on a single screen or matte are not permitted.
Points are accumulated through the year by members who enter the competitions as follows:
1st place:

2nd place:
